Why Salvadorean's Families needs a hand?
El Salvador is the smallest country of Central America, and has the highest population density. El Salvador borders Guatemala and Honduras. Its main exports are: offshore assembly (Maquila) exports, coffee, sugar, textiles and apparel, ethanol, and chemicals.
The levels of extreme poverty are reducing throughout the years; in 1991 28.2% of the Salvadorian population lived under extreme poverty. Now, in 2009, 10% of El Salvador’s population suffers from extreme poverty. Extreme Poverty is generally defined as the percentage of people that are unable to cover the minimum consumption cost for food.
However, due to the economic crisis foods prices are increasing and there is a very high risk that the percentile of extreme poverty also increases.
